Scylla Nero d'Avola 2024

Bronze Medal
2024 McLaren Vale Wine Show

95 Points
Bright purple-ish ruby in the glass, with compote of raspberry and ripe red cherry aromas, and hints of smoke and dried orange peel. Concentrated and ripe on the palate, the acidity interwoven into a smooth and quite full-bodied palate. Creamy and tangy, with a velvety tannin finish.
Melissa Moore, The Real Review, January 2026

94 Points
Nero d'Avola from the Lopresti Ridgehaven vineyard in Sellicks on red-brown clay loam soils with a heavy component of colluvial rock. Old oak for 13 months. The key with this wine, over the last few years, is how well it combines fruit intensity and savoury detail. Dried black cherry, amaro herbs, a sarsaparilla/chinotto thing, with panforte spices, a little licorice, ground pepper, Earl Grey tea and a straw/hay note. It’s a little richer than the '23, a little more textural, viscous, but the conclusion is just as compelling in its vigour.
Marcus Ellis, Wine Companion, March 2026
