Jester Cabernet Sauvignon - 2019

93 POINTS
Varietally expressive and delightfully appealing, the wine shows blackcurrant, dark cherry, toasted nut and subtle vanilla characters with a hint of dried herb complexity. It’s beautifully supple and succulent with excellent weight and intensity, finishing long and silky.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit. March 2021

92 POINTS
Piercing notes of blackcurrant, reminiscent of Ribena. Herbaceous riffs of hedgerow, spearmint and greengage provide lift. Lithe, dense sage-crusted tannins find effortless affinity with the oak cladding (70/30% French/American, all used) . But it is the extract and generous mouthfeel that prove winning. No wonder, as 20% of the fruit was dried in the appassimento fashion. This is an impressive cabernet: saline, maritime, full bodied and highly regional.
Ned Goodwin, Wine Companion. February 2021

91 POINTS
Saturated violet. Potent cassis, cherry pit, liquorice and pipe tobacco qualities on the fragrant nose. Picks up a hint of smokiness with air, which carries onto the palate, complementing lively, spice-laced dark fruit and candied rose flavours. Finishes long and smooth, with repeating florality and well-judged tannins.
Josh Raynolds, Vinous, September 2022

90 POINTS
Marked by scents of cassis and mulberries, the 2019 Jester Cabernet Sauvignon is a ripe, medium to full-bodied effort that’s silky enough to drink over the next 4–5 years. Offering plenty of flavor and a soft dusting of tannins on the finish, it’s a fine example of the Jester Cab.
Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate. February 2021

89 POINTS
The 2019 Jester Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two sites, distinguished by their row orientations and soil profile. The north/south rows give darker, more brooding fruit, while the rows running east/west get a little more protection from the sun and are therefore more aromatic and more red-fruited, with tannins that are not as intense tannins. In the mouth, the wine is leafy, jubey and sweet. There is lovely fruit wedged into the tannins here. There are notes of cassis, raspberry and brine.
Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, October 2022
