Jester Grenache - 2022

91 Points
Medium-depth colour of good hue, while the bouquet gives up spice, chocolate, earth and dark-cherry/blackberry bonbon aromas, which repeat on the palate where it's medium-full weighted and has pleasant tannins which are slightly firm but ripe and balanced. Lots of bang for the bucks here.
Huon Hooke, The Real Review, August 2024

From Sellicks Hill and vines about 25 years old. There can’t have been many grenache vineyards planted at that time, but here we are. This was raised mainly in tank (70%), and the brightness shows on the nose, but so does the savouriness of the residual in older oak. Cranberry jelly, redcurrant, red frogs, a lilt of dusky rose, sumac, white pepper and cinnamon, and all in a relatively lighter key. But generally savoury; and that’s for the better. A finely assertive and food-friendly tannin line carries the finish.
