92 POINTS A really smart vintage for this wine, it not only carries impressive intensity but there is also plenty of detail thrown in too making for a solid McLaren Vale offering. It is dark ruby in colour and shows your classic shiraz mulberry and dark berry fruits. What I like most is the savoury edges – black pepper and tobacco aromas with old oak sitting in the background. In the mouth it’s chunky and fleshy with ripe dark fruits plus some chewy tannins to give that complete McLaren Vale experience. It’s a heart warmer to match your next vegetable or meat stew. Dark purple. Spicy and expansive on the nose, displaying scents of blackberry, cherry, vanilla and lavender and a touch of smokiness. It’s ripe and concentrated without being overly jammy or sweet tasting, with mulberry and cherry fruit joined by hints of black olive framed by a dusting of soft tannins.
