A dark plummy red in the glass. Aromas of plum, mulberry, bramble, spice and dried herbs. Dark fruited, juicy and mouth filling, with plenty of presence and decent shape.

A From the lopresti vineyard in Sellicks Hill: 16 months in seasoned oak, 80% French and 20% American. It was another cool year, but this comes off clay in a sunny and warmer site, so it doesn't lack for depth of fruit and flavour. There's richness and polish, a splay of dark berries and plum, a little spice and leathery, earthy complexity. There's a lot of wine here for $25
